Anytrades Convention Meet-Up

This is an idea I have been kicking around for a bit. I want to see people's thoughts on it. Sometime this summer (mid to late) I was thinking we could have an AnyTrades, in real life, meet up at a gaming/anime convention.

Most conventions are a couple days long and I'm looking for one in central US. I realize that since most of the users here are either too young to make a decision to travel to something like this or people live too far away and with money constraints can't make it. We want to get as many people as possible, so if you can make it, let me know.

I'll try and arrange a meeting point and all the basic logistics as best I can. Basically we will most likely meet outside the convention before hand and just hang out for the day(s) and all that jazz.

I'm still trying to figure out the specific convention that will be the meeting point. Currently I'm think of these:

Electronic Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada. - June 2-4, 2009

Where we go depends largely on who is willing/able to go. E3 is mainly for the leading edge of gaming and is going to be really crazy. GenCon is a large but more broad range of gaming and sci-fi/fantasy stuff. Both will be really fun for anyone able to go.

IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER: You will have to register for the convention and pay for the tickets/gas out to the convention. This isn't free. Please keep this in mind while deciding if you want to go. You will probably also want money to spend at the convention. You are responsible for your own money situation and your own actions.

I'm going to keep looking for other conventions that may fit better to pokemon gaming specificly but we'll see what turns up. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

That is interesting.....the problem is that we're not rich and i hate planes lol

Good idea though, i will be working and making money by this summer, so maybe i'll get a chance to go wherevr...

maybe we could go somwhere else than the placies up there like i know a place in St. Louis where they have things.

They're having a Pokemon Game Tournament in St.Louis! (Thats where one of the battles in the tournament are going to be) I think it would be best if we meet there! (Just a thought.....)

Maybe you can find something in New York City, everyone loves the Big Apple and Times Square and Yankee Stadium and all that good stuff lol

Yanks, there are conventions in New York. Search for Otacon on google. It is apparently a pretty cool convention.

As for what I was thinking for this meet up it is a bit too far toward the east coast for the west coast members and myself.

St. Louis sounds like a decent idea though. If someone could post a link to the convention's site I'd like to check it out.

Basicly a general anime and gaming convention. Looks neat but might not have much in terms of pokemon.

Mainly an anime festival but they have a specific Pokemon battling tournament. I think this would be an awesome con to meet at.
